Yemen’s Integrity vs United States Hypocrisy on Palestine
In today’s geopolitical landscape, a country’s stance on justice often serves as a measure of the moral and ethical values it upholds. On one hand, Yemen—a nation ravaged by war and economic hardship—demonstrates courage and consistency in defending the rights of the Palestinian people.
On the other hand, the United States, which frequently portrays itself as a champion of human rights and democracy, blatantly exhibits hypocrisy when it comes to the Palestinian issue.
Yemen: A Principled Nation Defending Palestine
Despite facing internal conflict and international pressure, Yemen remains steadfast in its support for Palestine. The Ansarullah movement, which controls a significant portion of Yemen, has vocally opposed Israeli oppression and continues to support the Palestinian struggle.
Their support is not just rhetorical; they have actively disrupted Israeli shipping routes in the Red Sea as a form of protest against Zionist atrocities in Gaza.
Yemen’s courage reflects true integrity—a willingness to face risks in the name of justice. Even as the country grapples with blockades and airstrikes, it continues to raise its voice and take action, something that is rarely seen among more stable Arab nations.

The United States Hypocrisy: Flawed Human Rights Rhetoric
The U.S. often presents itself as a defender of human rights, but its actions regarding Palestine tell a different story. Washington not only provides political and diplomatic backing to Israel but also supplies billions of dollars in military aid that is used to bomb Gaza.
Despite the world witnessing the killing of thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, the U.S. persistently blocks any attempts at the United Nations to stop the violence.
What is even more appalling is that the U.S. condemns Yemen for disrupting Israeli shipping, while at the same time failing to take firm action against Israel, which has imposed an inhumane blockade on Gaza for years.
This is blatant hypocrisy: Yemen’s restrictions on Israeli ships are labeled as a threat to “freedom of navigation,” yet Israel’s blockade, which causes starvation and suffering in Palestine, is justified as a “national security measure.”
Double Standards That Tarnish U.S. Credibility
The U.S. failure to act fairly in the Israel-Palestine conflict has severely damaged its global reputation. Nations that once viewed Washington as a moral leader now increasingly question its sincerity. Even some of its traditional allies are beginning to voice support for Palestine.
This hypocrisy also contributes to global instability. The U.S.’s unwavering support for Israel fuels radicalization and unrest in the Middle East. It not only destabilizes the region but also exposes the U.S. as a superpower more concerned with its geopolitical interests than with universal principles of justice.
The World Must Reevaluate the U.S. Role
The international community cannot continue allowing the U.S. to operate with double standards in matters of human rights and global justice. If Washington genuinely wishes to uphold the principles it frequently preaches, it must adopt a fair stance on Palestine rather than shielding Israel’s oppression.
Meanwhile, Yemen, despite facing immense challenges, has demonstrated moral courage and unwavering commitment to justice. The world must recognize this reality and reassess who truly stands on the right side in the fight for global justice. – Biswardi Hasbi
